Faculty of Humanities

Mission and Objectives

Mission 

The major vocation of the Faculty of Humanities is to engender high quality university standard education, research, and community service. The Faculty aims to develop critical skills, competitiveness, as well as conceptual, analytical and evaluative competencies amongst its clientele in order to promote their smooth integration into the job market and the academic quest for post-graduate studies. 

Objectives 

  1. To equip University students with productive, receptive and study skills.
  2. To produce graduates qualified at an internationally acceptable standard.
  3. To enrich the programme through research and publication as well as the establishment of mutually beneficial links with other institutions.
  4. To increase opportunities for self-employment in such areas as interpreting, translation and journalism.
  5. To disseminate professional knowledge based on research to teachers, lectures in colleges, staff in National Archives, and to community benefactors such as religious and traditional leaders.
  6. To promote a culture of understanding, tolerance including respect for human values found in the various organs of society, and self-criticism for the sake of growth.
