Qualifications and Experience: 

• A PhD in Education/Management/Distance Education/ Education Planning.
• A candidate at the rank of Associate Professor or above.
• At least 10 years University/College teaching experience.
• At least 5 years working experience in a Distance Learning Organization.

Duties: 

These include, but not limited to the following:
Management
1. Develop the Institute’s strategies and associated financial and operational plans; and
2. Provide overall management of the Institute including the supervision of all Professional and support staff, monitoring and provision or coordination of staff training and managing the Institute’s budget.
 
Programme design
3. Work with the Deans and Heads of Departments to prepare programmes and curricula; and
4. Oversee the running of academic programmes and courses offered by the Institute.
 
Partnerships and Resource Mobilization
5. Establish new and maintain existing relationships with external partners in the field of Distance Learning;
6. Liaise with outside bodies and organizations to get appropriate facilities for the programmes; and
7. Networking with other Distance Learning Institutes.
 
Research and Community Service
8. Conduct research related to Open, Distance and Blended Learning;
9. Keep abreast with the latest trends in Open, Distance and Blended Learning; and
10. Engage in Community Service.

Appointment Terms: 

Local and Expatriate Candidates
Three-year contract with a possibility for renewal by mutual consent subject to satisfactory performance plus 25% Gratuity, 10% Recruitment and Retention Allowance, Housing/Housing Allowance, Medical Aid contribution and relocation expenses.
