The Government of Swaziland has embarked on the implementation of its National Development Strategy (NDS) through the theme of “Poverty Reduction Strategy and Action Programme (PRSAP).” The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are some of the guiding principles for the PRSAP. The University of Swaziland has a role to play in producing the necessary human capital and academic leadership to help drive this process. In this regard, the University is aligning its strategic plan to the NDS and PRSAP as much as possible. This will be facilitated through the University’s second strategic plan.
The 2010/2015 University of Swaziland Strategic Plan is the second strategic plan after the first one was commissioned in 2002. There were some notable achievements in the implementation of the first Strategic Plan issues/objectives such as the establishment of centres and the review and creation of some academic programmes. However, some of the strategic objectives were not achieved because of lack of resources. Hence some of the items presented in this second strategic plan are a carry-over from the previous one.
The links below articulate the strategic issues and intentions of the University through the five-year period of the current strategic plan.
