Institute of Distance Education Admissions Requirements
(a) Bachelor
of Arts Humanities
Duration: 5-6 years
Entrance Requirements: Six passes obtained in not more than two
sittings, five of which including English Language, must be passed at C Grade or
better. Two of the five must be these subjects: Geography, History, Religious
Knowledge, SiSwati, French or English Literature. A D in O-Level
Maths - in order to major in Geography, Environmental Science and Planning OR The
Mature Age Entry Scheme applicable to degree programmes.
(b) Diploma
in Commerce
Duration: 4 years
Entrance Requirements: Four credit passes which should
include Mathematics and English Language and two other relevant subjects. OR
A credit pass in the Certificate in Commerce Programme. OR A pass in
the Certificate in Commerce Programme plus two years of relevant experience after
completing the Certificate Programme. Or An AAT level II Certificate in
Accounting. OR A recognised equivalent qualification. OR the
Mature Age Entry Scheme applicable to Diploma Programmes.
(c) Diploma
in Law
Duration: 3 years
Entrance Requirements: At least three credit passes including
English Language. OR At least three passes in O-LEVEL including English
Language and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience. OR A
Certificate in law with credit or better from UNISWA or any other institution approved by
Senate. OR A pass in Certificate in law plus one year relevant work
experience after completing the Certificate. OR the Mature Age Scheme
applicable to Diploma Programmes.
(d) Certificate
in French
Duration: 2 years.
Entry Requirements: Junior Certificate or a recognized
equivalent qualification. Five passes in O-LEVEL including French will be entry in
year 2,
(e) Bachelor
of Education (Adult Education)
Duration: 5 years.
Entrance Requirements: A pass in Diploma in Adult Education, plus
two years post Diploma experience related to Adult Education. OR A credit in
the Diploma in Adult Education. OR A degree in other fields accepted by the
University with at least two years experience and must be currently engaged in Adult
Education practice.
NB: Holders of the Diploma in Adult Education with an overall
minimum of 65% may enter the Degree programme in year 2 on the recommendation of the IDE
Board to Senate.
